Big D is the amazing asthmatic donkey! A few years ago she developed severe asthma. Every form of supplement, diet alteration and medication was tried with no great success. She was unable to bray for many months, which is one of her favorite things to do. Now that she is on a good regimine, she is back to signing that donkey song! She does very well on a twice daily inhaler and special supplements to keep her asthma stable. We must also ensure to soak her hay in water at each feeding to prevent her from inhaling dust or allergens. Extremely cold and humid temperatures cause her to have exacerbations of her asthma requiring medication and increased doses of inhalers. The cost of her treatments make her the most needy resident we have at B&B sanctuary.

Big D doesn't let the asthma get her down. She continues to enjoy butt scratches, food, and being in charge of the herd. With her medication and supplements, she is able to live a complete life!
