Bigger Together: Expanding Mentorship Across Forsyth County
Since 1977, Big Brothers Big Sisters Services, Inc. has matched thousands of children with caring mentors—over 20,000 in Forsyth County alone. These one-to-one relationships lead to stronger social connections, academic success, and brighter futures.
To meet growing demand from schools and families, we launched Bigger Together, a bold initiative to expand site-based mentoring in local schools and at our BBBS Mentoring Center. After a strong first year, we’re deepening our impact in 2024–2025 by reaching more students and supporting more volunteers.
The Need Is Clear
-
In the 2023–24 school year, BBBS served 112 students across 7 schools.
-
In 2024–25, we’re reaching 160 students in 13 schools.
-
A new partnership with WS/FCS also paired 21 district staff members as mentors.
Yet, over 150 children in our community are still waiting to be matched. To meet this need, we must grow our program capacity—both in schools and at our Mentoring Center.
Our Goals
With your support, we will:
-
Expand mentoring programs in schools and the community
-
Recruit and train more volunteers
-
Offer one-to-one and group mentoring opportunities
-
Launch youth-led mentoring and leadership development
-
Maintain rigorous safety and match support protocols
Why It Works
Mentoring leads to real outcomes. In our most recent youth surveys:
-
95% improved in school
-
89% avoided risky behavior
-
82% were less likely to skip school
Our Vision
We are working to raise $1,000,000 over four years to support Bigger Together and:
-
Respond quickly to mentorship requests
-
Enhance program quality through staff capacity
-
Bring mentorship directly to where youth are—schools and the community
Your Role
Bigger Together is more than a program—it’s a community-wide movement to ignite potential. By investing in this expansion, you help create lasting relationships that change lives and strengthen our community.
Help us ignite potential—one match at a time.
