It brings me great joy to share that we have dedicated the 75th church building in the remote village of Lakhipur, deep in the hills of eastern India. This new house of worship stands as a testimony to God’s faithfulness and the perseverance of His people.

Reaching Lakhipur was one of the most difficult journeys we have undertaken. The village is hidden far inside the jungle and can be reached only by an unpaved mountain trail—steep, slippery, and dangerous during rains. There is no mobile network, no internet, and no connection to the outside world. And yet, the moment we arrived, the people welcomed us with dancing, songs, and overwhelming joy that made every challenge worth it.

During the Dedication Service, the believers took a special offering for the Light Together Project, giving sacrificially from what little they had. The total offering was $120, a beautiful expression of their love for God and His work.

The Lakhipur fellowship is a daughter church of a nearby congregation. It was planted by a young man named Pastor Ajay Kumar, whose testimony of how God transformed his life is powerful and deeply moving.

Ajay was raised in a non-Christian family bound by traditional beliefs. His home was marked by poverty, sickness, and fear. His parents often sought help from local healers, but nothing seemed to change, and the family fell into deep debt. As the second of five siblings, Ajay remembers believing that suffering was simply their destiny.

But in 2015, everything changed.

While visiting the weekly market in a town called Narachapada, Ajay and his older brother heard someone preaching the Gospel for the first time. Curious, they listened. The message of a God who loved them, who could break curses and deliver them from bondage, stirred something inside their hearts. After the sermon, they found the pastor and asked where they could learn more.

From that day forward, they walked nearly two hours each way to attend church every Sunday. Within two months, both brothers surrendered their lives to Jesus. Soon, they shared the Good News with their parents and sister, and by God’s grace, their entire family came to faith.

Realizing that people in Lakhipur needed the Gospel, Ajay began Sunday worship in his own tiny home—a narrow room where believers packed together to pray. Longing to grow, he later attended a small Bible school in the neighboring district. When he returned, the church grew rapidly and soon overflowed into the open air, meeting under a tree.

Seeing the need for a permanent place of worship, Ajay offered a piece of his own land. With $5,000 from Light Together partners, the construction was completed. The villagers themselves carried sand, stones, and bricks on their backs—building a house of prayer with their own hands.

Pastor Ajay is a gifted evangelist and worship leader. He currently walks long distances—sometimes more than 10 kilometers—to minister in six villages scattered throughout the hills. His ministry is thriving, but his ability to reach the unreached is severely limited by the lack of transportation.
