HBCU Trip with BLA Students

Support Boston Latin Academy Students on a Transformative HBCU & Civil Rights Journey

Students from Boston Latin Academy are preparing for an unforgettable educational experience, traveling to Atlanta, Birmingham, and Montgomery from April 14-17, 2025, as part of our Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and Civil Rights tour. This trip will provide students with a profound opportunity to deepen their knowledge of African and African American history, fostering self-awareness, identity, and confidence—especially for students of color.

Boston Public Schools serve a diverse student population, united by the pursuit of education both inside and beyond the classroom. This journey will take learning beyond textbooks, immersing students in pivotal historical sites that shaped the Civil Rights Movement and African American heritage.

Key experiences on this trip include:

  • Tours of HBCUs in Atlanta (Spelman College, Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, Morris Brown College), inspiring students to consider institutions that have long championed Black excellence in education.
  • Visits to civil rights landmarks such as the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Park, the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, the Legacy Museum, and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice.
  • A visit to Stone Mountain Park, offering insights into the Antebellum era and its lasting impact.

We are seeking generous donors to help make this transformative experience accessible to all students. Your support will directly help cover airfare, transportation, lodging, and entry fees to these historic sites, reducing financial barriers for families.

Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to making this opportunity a reality. Invest in the education and empowerment of our students today.

Thank you for your support in shaping the future of our students!
