The Cape Fear Bird Observatory is thrilled to host our First Annual Bird Bonanza! -- a free event designed to connect our community with the fascinating world of birds. Explore the wonders of migration and learn about the challenges and triumphs of the incredible birds that grace our skies and call North Carolina home.
This year’s Bird Bonanza will shine a spotlight on the many migratory species that pass through the Cape Fear region and the unique habitats that support them. The Cape Fear region provides essential food and shelter for species traveling from as far away as South America or boreal Canada.
Our team at the CFBO works to connect people of all ages with nature through long-term bird monitoring, partnerships with researchers and conservation organizations, and outreach to local schools. At our Bird Bonanza!, you’ll have a chance to meet our scientists, join hands-on activities for all ages, and participate in interactive presentations about the importance of local species, bird conservation, and habitat protection.
Come celebrate our winged neighbors and discover how you can help make a difference. Whether you’re a seasoned birdwatcher or a curious newcomer, Bird Bonanza! is a chance to experience nature’s wonders and join a community dedicated to safeguarding the future of Cape Fear’s avian friends.
