This year has been rough!

A.D. 2023 saw our beloved Friendship Park, the place where we worship across the border each Sunday, desecrated by a thirty-foot border barrier. As you read this, another thirty-foot wall is also going up right on the international boundary

The fences are higher than ever before. It’s dispiriting to say the least.

And yet…

Our faith, hope, and love are undeterred. For half a century, people of goodwill have met on either side of barbed wire, fences, and walls to share life. For well over a decade, the Border Church has been a central part of the faith life of separated families, deportees, migrants, and people of good will on either side.

You can help!

On the Mexican side of Friendship Park, some 40 or 50 people receive communion each Sunday. After the service ends, the table of communion turns into a table of fellowship, where between 80 and 100 receive a nutritious and delicious meal provided through our partnership with Via Migrante (a program of Via International, our fiscal sponsor) and Casa de Luz, a collective house open to LBGTQ+ refugees who left their home country in search of a better life. All this is made possible by a network of support from diverse faith traditions… and by generous friends like you.

Who We Are: The Border Church / La Iglesia Fronteriza is an interdenominational community that gathers every Sunday for a weekly celebration of binational communion at Friendship Park, the historic meeting place on the US-Mexico border. Our mission is to follow Jesus and seek the reign of God by breaking bread along and across the border.
