The 2025 theme for Black Breastfeeding Week is Boots on the ground: Focusing on being rooted in breastfeeding success and grounded in community support.

In the heart of our community, a quiet revolution is taking place. It's a revolution of love, resilience, and empowerment. As we celebrate Black Breastfeeding Week 2025, we honor the strength of Black mothers who, despite systemic barriers and historical injustices, continue to nurture and sustain their babies through breastfeeding.

Breakfast for Champions, is a bespoke event centering a celebration of the stories of Black mothers who have overcome obstacles to breastfeed their babies. Their journeys are a testament to resilience and the transformative power of support. These stories inspire and remind us that when we uplift one mother, we uplift an entire community.

In addition to the powerful stories, we will be discussing two major policies that were passed in 2019 that have yet to be implemented. Join us in a call to action that will help close a major gap in access to qualified lactation providers and improve access to human milk to our most vulnerable babies born too soon.

Finally we will be honor Dr. Kia Grundy, Pediatrician and owner of Trinity Pediatrics in Millburn with our Inaugural Dr. Montrae Thomas Liquid Gold Award. This award is given to someone that has gone above and beyond to support breastfeeding and lactation success in the Black community.
