This is the story about how The Prout School alumni came together to build a new field on the school's campus. A new artificial turf field with lights and, yes, bleacher seats for all! The existing grass field will remain for baseball and softball, but future Crusaders will be playing soccer and lacrosse on this new beauty.
The school has already raised a million dollars. They'll be able to break ground if we raise just $400,000 - $500,000 more. Once ground is broken, the field can be built in just 11 weeks. It's designed, permitted and ready to go. The contractor has even been selected. Lots of Prout parents and local businesses have already contributed. Now it's our turn.
There are 4,500 Prout alumni from 52 graduating classes. From the Class of 1969 to the Class of 2020. Our goal is to raise an average of roughly $5,000 per graduating class, for a total of $250,000. This GiveButter Campaign is just the first step towards that goal. We can do this. We are Crusaders.
The field, when it's built, will be named after Meghan C. Cooney, a 1996 graduate of The Prout School. Meghan left this earth far too soon and is remembered for her prowess on the soccer field as well as her personification of all that is good about being a Prout Crusader.
