Story
The Brody Stevens Festival of Friendship 818 Walk is taking place on August 20th, 2022 in Reseda, California. You got it! The comedy community mourned the loss of Brody Stevens in 2019, and friends of Brody’s started the 818 Walk in honor of his memory for his fans and friends. Push! While the 2020 walk was canceled due to COVID, a second walk took place in 2021. This year, the 818 Walk will directly benefit Comedy Gives Back, the organization dedicated to acting as a safety net for comedians in need of mental health services and addiction treatment. Yes!
Registration fee is $50 per participant ($60 day of), with proceeds directly benefiting Comedy Gives Back. Participants will also receive a special Brody gift bag. The walk itself is a 5K on the streets of Reseda, in cooperation with the city and local law enforcement. Believe!
The Comedy Store will also be honoring Brody with a special Brody Stevens 818 Day show on Thursday, August 18th to kick off the weekend and raise awareness about the walk. Yes! Enjoy it
For comedians, being on stage alone is the job. Feeling alone offstage is unacceptable. Comedy Gives Back has created a safety net for the comedy community. Founded by Jodi Lieberman, Amber J Lawson and Zoe Friedman, the 501 C3 non-profit organization provides the comedy community with financial crisis relief, mental health and chemical dependency treatment sponsorship and continued community support. OUR IMPACT
Financial Crisis Relief - When comedians are in need due to unforeseen
circumstances, we're here to help. We provide grants to cover treatments,
surgery, and hospital stays when stand-ups need it most.
Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Treatment Sponsorship - Mental
health issues and substance abuse are two of comedy's biggest challenges.
We're here to help comedians find and pay for treatment.
Community Support - Bi-monthly Comedy Gives Back Connects (Virtual and
IRL) bringing comedians and industry leaders together. FB community and
resource private group.
