Curtis Bush Jr. Memorial Scholarship

"When you meet a brother, greet a brother."

We often make the mistake of passing a person and never taking the opportunity to acknowledge how amazing it is to have had the opportunity to say hello. It seems like such a simple gesture, but it is one that we often never take advantage of. There was never a chance in a million years that you could ever walk pass Curtis and not be greeted with a welcoming smile and a warm hello.

Curtis Bush, Jr. was a graduate of B.L. Moore High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree at Rust College. After dedicating his life to Jesus Christ, he diligently worked in the church. He was a musician that loved gospel. His most joyous days were filled with giving back to his community. Curtis was a Sapphire Life member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. He always believed that the key to success was a good education. He taught at F.O. Alexander for 38 years where he coached basketball, football, track and baseball. In a time when the traditional role of fathers were fading, he stood his ground and fathered many. He lived a life of service to others and was a devoted husband, educator, coach and mentor.
