Join us for Camp to Community in Boone!

The DFC's Camp to Community program is a one-day event providing children aged 5-15 with type 1 diabetes, their family members, and adults connected to T1D with fun, laughter, education, and community connection through recreational-based programming supported by diabetes care professionals.

Campers living with T1D and their siblings can expect:
1. To be supported by our outstanding volunteer staff and medical counselors, most of them living with diabetes themselves.
2. To participate in activities that offer teachable moments about diabetes management, team problem-solving opportunities, and challenges that empower and build campers' confidence in themselves and their diabetes management and leadership skills.
3. To have the opportunity to experience camp, learn from one another, build authentic relationships with medical professionals, find role models in our staff, and make enduring friendships that last a lifetime.

Adults and Caregivers can expect:
1. To participate in a full day of connection and education with T1D experts and community members.
2. To participate in community-building discussions, sharing diabetes experiences, T1D management sessions, and communication-building activities that support positive mental health and coping strategies.
3. Build your community connections to resources in the area and find "your people" in the T1D community.

The Whole Family can expect:
1. To enjoy the day and meet new T1D friends
2. To enjoy a picnic on the Appalachian State University Quad with special guests
3. To meet our exhibit vendors and learn for yourself about resources for your family.
3. Be infused with activities and discussions that support a Positive Mental Attitude (PMA), to help manage the challenges of life with type 1 diabetes.
