Sadly, food insecurity remains a persistent challenge. In our community, there are neighbors who face food insecurity every month. The cause of this is not laziness. Many are experiencing food insecurity due to unforeseen medical problems, divorce, abandonment, violence, job loss, and magnified remarkably this year for reasons including economic turbulence, inflation, and population expansion.

We have seen dramatic increases in the number of individuals seeking food assistance each year. We experienced a 63% increase from 2021 to 2022, and a 58% increase from 2022-2023. We anticipate a 30% minimum increase in 2024. In response, countless individuals are grappling with difficult decisions about managing skyrocketing prices and ensuring their loved ones receive adequate nutrition.
