About Child Abuse Prevention Month

National Child Abuse Prevention Month recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect. Prevention services and supports developed by this collaboration can help to protect children and strengthen families.

Child Abuse Prevention Month is all about kids: keeping them safe and making sure they all grow up in safe nurturing homes. That's why here at the local level, our organizations are partnering together to make our communities safer for children and stronger for families.

We are partnering with TreeTop Child Advocacy Center to share the importance of our community advocates, and spread more information on the work being done to end child abuse. Every dollar raised will help CASACD and TreeTop continue to provide advocacy for children experiencing abuse in our communities.

About CASA of the Continental Divide

CASA of the Continental Divide (CASACD) is a non-profit serving local children in Colorado’s 5^th Judicial District, which encompasses Clear Creek, Eagle, Lake, and Summit Counties.

CASACD recruits, trains, supervises, and mentors community volunteers to advocate for the best interests of victims of child abuse, neglect, and severe domestic conflict in court. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court and in the community. Each assigned volunteer advocate conducts independent investigations, is in direct contact with the child, and gets to know the child so they can represent the child’s best interests. In this way the child has a voice in the court, someone on their side during a difficult time that can drastically affect their wellbeing, safety, and future. The desired result is that children be placed in safe, loving homes where they can thrive.

About TreeTop Child Advocacy Center

TreeTop Child Advocacy Center (CAC) was established in 2018 as the only non-profit organization that forensically interviews child victims of violence in the 5th Judicial District in Colorado.

By coordinating the response of agencies like law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors’ offices, advocates, mental health and medical professionals TreeTop help ensure that when a child discloses abuse, they are not re-victimized by the very systems designed to protect them. TreeTop help coordinate care and investigation from first report to conviction and beyond, while keeping the child at the center of everything the team does.
