We'll explore covering news, stories and information that is often overlooked or not reported on by local media outlets and way we are working to create lasting change across the state.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: Founder and publisher of OUT in Kansas, a publication dedicated to amplifying LGBTQ+ voices sharing news that other local, regional and state media groups will not cover, and fostering community engagement across the state. With a career spanning business management, media, sales, and marketing, Kurt Oswald has a passion for revitalizing publications, increasing revenue, and developing innovative strategies that drive audience growth and advertiser success.

Over the years, Kurt had the opportunity to transform struggling media operations, lead high-performing teams, and create award-winning marketing campaigns. His experience includes managing multi-paper operations, launching new digital platforms, and implementing data-driven advertising solutions that enhance brand visibility and engagement. Beyond his work in publishing, he is committed to community involvement. He currently serves as Second Vice President of the Wichita Library Board of Directors and Chair of the Public Affairs Committee, where he advocates for literacy, accessibility, and community outreach initiatives.

Ticket price includes buffet lunch and desert plus water, coffee, or tea. Walk-ins are welcome to enjoy the program for $15 and are invited to order from the Larkspur menu if they desire a meal.

WPC has moved away from accepting cash and checks. Payments are now made with a credit/debit card when RSVPing online. WPC has shifted to Give Butter, an online platform that specializes in working with nonprofits that offers lower fees for our guests, streamlines our organization’s bookkeeping process, and reflects best practices for the functionality of online sales.

WPC monthly meetings support a scholarship fund for Wichita-area students pursuing a career in communications. Every year, WPC provides scholarships of up to $2,000 for Wichita-area college and university students majoring in a communications field.
