Our Mission Statement: Embracing the Social Mission of the Catholic Church in the world, and responding to the Gospel, Catholic Social Services of Augusta offers emergency assistance to individuals and families in Augusta, Georgia, and the surrounding area. Confirming the dignity and worth of each person, the agency supports clients through crisis situations and empowers them in their journey toward sustainable independence with compassion and encouragement.

Agency History: Catholic Social Services was founded in 1969 by Sister Marie Celine Fahy, MFIC as a ministry dedicated to responding to the needs of the poor in downtown Augusta. This ministry grew from home visitations, food and clothing provision, and outreach to the elderly, sick, and homeless to providing emergency assistance for shelter, utilities, transportation, and medical needs. In 1990, the Catholic Social Services Thrift Store was established to support the services offered at the Outreach Office. Today, the ministry provides emergency food, personal hygiene items, clothing, local bus transportation, and financial assistance for medical needs and utility payments. The faith, vision, and good works of Sister Marie Celine Fahy continue to inspire the staff and volunteers of Catholic Social Services as they strive to live and fulfill the mission of bringing hope and help to all of God's struggling people.
