Story

Class of 2022: 601 Ceramic Kiln and Funding for the Arts Program

Each year, the eighth-grade class presents a gift to the school upon graduation. The gift is a symbol of the class' gratitude to the school and commitment to the future generations of CDS students. The Class of 2022 will purchase a ceramic kiln to live at our 601 campus and support ongoing costs associated with its operation. Additionally, the class gift will allow the school to purchase kiln furniture, shelving, and art supplies such as clay, glaze, and tools.

This idea for a class gift came directly from 8th grade students' desire to have a more robust ceramics program while on the 601 campus. Matt and Chris, our Middle School Art Teacher and Middle School Director, advocated on behalf of the students to make sure this year's 8th grade class gift is unique and truly represents the creative spirit of the group.

The Class of 2022 will also bolster CDS' arts program generally. Additional funds will be allocated to an art program fund that will encourage creative thinking and expand the artistic reach of our students. Strengthening our art program will not only benefit CDS students for years to come but also allow the community partners to utilize the space and equipment, which aligns with CDS’ community values

Our primary goal is to reach 100% participation from the graduating class parents in support of the kiln, associated items, and restricted art funds. Gifts of ALL SIZES matter as we come together as a community to fund the project.

To make a gift, you can donate online, send in a check payable to Children’s Day School, or contact Director of Advancement, Jeanna Yoo at 415-861-5432 x323 or [email protected] for more information.

If your employer matches charitable donations, your gift could double in size. You might also consider making a gift of appreciated stock, as that may provide greater tax benefits from your donation (specifically, avoidance of capital gains tax on the transfer), or make a gift from a donor-advised fund.

Thank you!
