I have been involved with CFCG since its inception in 2018. It is a wonderful organization that works in voter suppression states. It helps people to be able to vote despite all the myriad obstacles in their way through postcards, phone calls, texting, and canvassing. The Center for Common Ground also supports 12 Democracy Centers in historically marginalized communities of color. These communities have long endured voter suppression and political neglect, leading to a pervasive sense of apathy. Politicians often appear only during election cycles, prioritizing votes over genuine engagement with community needs. Democracy Centers are year-round, community-led hubs that address these challenges. Center leaders, deeply rooted in their communities, work tirelessly to build trust, empower residents, and advocate for equitable policies. By fostering ongoing dialogue and collaboration, they are revitalizing civic engagement and restoring faith in democracy.
