What Is It?

Join us the evening before the Boston Marathon for a single-route, group bike ride along the iconic marathon course. Together, we’ll gather in Hopkinton and pedal our way into Boston as one united team—no multiple waves or routes. This is the best way to experience the famous hills and landmarks while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow cyclists before Marathon Monday.

Why We Ride

This ride is a fundraiser for Changing Futures, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit directly supporting groundbreaking Cystic Fibrosis (CF) research. Funds raised go to medical teams focused on innovative GI research for aging CF patients—work that also has implications for cancer treatments. Every dollar raised on this ride goes straight to Dr. Freedman’s groundbreaking research, ensuring your support has an immediate, tangible effect on CF and cancer-related discoveries. By taking part in this ride, you’ll help transform lives while kicking off Marathon Week in unforgettable style.

Dr. Freedman’s Research Spotlight

Dr. Steven Freedman and his team at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center are at the forefront of exploring how CF patients’ aging bodies respond to emerging gastrointestinal challenges. Their studies are driving new treatment strategies for conditions once considered too rare or complex to tackle—offering hope not only to the CF community, but potentially to anyone at elevated risk for certain cancers. By fueling Dr. Freedman’s cutting-edge lab work, we’re accelerating real-world solutions that can lead to earlier detection, improved therapies, and a better quality of life for patients everywhere.

Ride Details

Route Length: ~30 miles from the official Marathon starting line in Hopkinton to Downtown Boston.
Meeting Time: 6:00 p.m. (subject to final confirmation).
Pace & Support: We’ll set off as one group and stay together at a comfortable pace. Expect minimal hills (beyond the iconic Heartbreak Hill) and plenty of time to soak in the marathon atmosphere.
Safety & Logistics:
- We’ll have a brief pre-ride huddle in Hopkinton to review the route and answer questions.
- Riders are responsible for their own helmets, lights, and basic tools—just in case.
- Post-ride, you can celebrate in Boston or make your own transportation arrangements home.
