These are just a few of the patients and families CHPH is walking alongside. Your Giving Tuesday gift helps us say “yes” when they need it most.
Club feet, and a four-year journey of care

Josue is three years old and was born with club feet. He had surgery at six weeks, but when his mom moved back to their village near Opatoro, they lost access to follow-up care. Now he’s developing painful ulcers that threaten to delay the surgery he urgently needs.
CHPH is working with One World Surgery and Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos to monitor his health, get him ready for surgery in March, and support him through four years of follow-up: therapy, leg braces, orthopedic boots, and many visits. It’s an investment in the rest of his life.
Your gift helps cover his transport, therapy, and follow-up.
Your support helps Josue walk, run, and play without pain.
A new wheelchair, a restored livelihood
Nineteen years ago, Alexander lost his right arm and right leg in a tragic accident on “La Bestia” while trying to reach the U.S. to support his three young children. Since then, he has raised his children and built a small business renting musical equipment for festivals.
When his only wheelchair broke apart, he suddenly had no way to move or work. CHPH purchased a new wheelchair and a community member delivered it to his village. A simple chair restored his mobility, independence, and hope.
A wheelchair cost CHPH $230 with a discount.
Your gift replaces broken equipment with new possibilities.
From severe hip pain to walking again

Elena lived with severe hip pain and could barely walk without support. CHPH provided her with a walker and coordinated hip surgery with One World Surgery. Today, she is recovering well and receiving ongoing therapy with support from our local partners.
Your generosity turns unrelenting pain into healing and movement.
Strollers, diapers, and therapy

One little boy suffered severe hypoxia at birth, leaving him with permanent disabilities. His story is sadly not unique. CHPH provides strollers so parents don’t have to carry their children everywhere, and cloth for reusable diapers for kids who will never be independent in caring for themselves.
This child is fortunate to live near the Nelly Santos Foundation, where he receives therapy to help with joint contractures. Many others do not have that chance.
Your gift eases the daily burden on families caring for disabled children.
Preventing a lifetime of limitation
This young boy injured his elbow three years ago. It didn’t heal in a normal position, and as he grows, his arm may become even more compromised. CHPH is preparing a surgical referral for him through One World Surgery to restore as much function as possible.
Your support helps stop childhood injuries from becoming lifelong disabilities.
Waiting for a second chance at life

At age three, this young man had heart surgery and was told he would need another operation between 18–20 years old. Now he is symptomatic—fainting, dizzy, and short of breath.
CHPH has reached out to Helping Hands Honduras to coordinate the cardiac surgery he needs in Tegucigalpa or, if necessary, in the U.S. Your help gets him to the operating room in time.
Your gift helps turn “we’re worried” into “he made it.”
From one family to another – a wheelchair shared

An older woman in Buenas Aires shattered her ankle and endured a long, painful journey over bumpy roads to reach the hospital hours away. Back home, she had no wheelchair and no way to move safely.
CHPH was able to retrieve a wheelchair we’d previously bought for another family that had fully recovered. He happily returned it so she could use it now. We also provided pillows, a basic cellphone in case she falls again, and a replacement solar light.
Your gift keeps equipment circulating to those who need it most.
Rigoberto – Step by step, getting stronger

Four-year-old Rigoberto was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder about 18 months ago. CHPH has been covering logistics for his testing and therapy, and recently sent him to the Social Security Hospital for vision testing. He will be getting glasses so he can see better.
Your support helps children like Rigoberto get the tools they need to thrive.
Esperanza & Vilma – Caring for the caregivers

Esperanza is one of CHPH’s most dedicated volunteers in Opatoro. She leads a Nutrition House in the barrio of San Antonio, teaching mothers about healthy cooking and monitoring their children’s development.
Her daughter Vilma lives with rheumatoid arthritis and recently needed to return to an intense regimen of prednisone. CHPH provided funds so she could see her specialist again. Caring for the caregivers strengthens the whole community.
Your gift supports the local leaders who support everyone else.
