As we gain momentum with our fundraising, we wanted to clarify the details of the campaign.

Please read below for the details of our goal and how it works!

Who: Local Allstate agents have partnered with Long Island based charity Equity First Foundation (501c3) for purchasing and fulfillment of PPE! We have a family member of a local Allstate agent who works in manufacturing which allows us to secure PPE at reasonable pricing. We have just fulfilled our first order this week of 1000 masks.

What: Our goal is to raise $25,000 to secure PPE such as Masks, Face Shields, Gowns and non-tear able gloves to local hospitals in need.

When: Weekly! We are looking to deliver orders every 7-10 days, funding permitting.

Where: Local hospitals in our community. Most of our participating agents are based in the NY Downstate area (Westchester & below).

Why (Givebutter platform): We’ve partnered with Givebutter because they provide timely access to funds so we can make an immediate impact.

How: Each participating agent has a custom “Team Page” from which a customized link is generated. Once you click into that link and decide to donate, there will be a prompt to select the team/individual which you’d like to give credit—that’s it! Do not hesitate to include a brief message in your post!!

For most of us, we have the simple job of essentially staying home.

My Story

Please, take a moment and simply reflect on the unprecedented waters we have been propelled into with the explosion of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the depths to which it has touched each and every one of our lives here in New York…it is almost unfathomable on so many levels.

Personally, my wife and the mother of our two children, Laurie, is a Cardiology nurse at NUMC. We live in Long Beach. Over the past few weeks, we’ve all seen the increasing “stress test” which COVID-19 has placed on our front line first responders and overall healthcare system. At home I have had a front row seat. As many of us have become aware, and for those who aren’t, our nurses, doctors, and hospital staff are continuously working 10-12+ hour shifts for oftentimes days on end. They are making immeasurable sacrifices for the well-being of themselves and their families, all the while still scaling their way up the mountain in this fight with the worst yet to come…They don’t know if they have enough supplies. They don’t know if they have enough staff at times to replace those who become infected. Some don’t even go home at night out of fear of infecting family, so they’ll occasionally pay for a hotel room. Many of those who do go home are, as a precaution, self-isolating. It is both inspiring and terrifying at the same time…

Professionally, I have been an Allstate Agent for the past 16 years. I grew up locally in Nassau county and have my office here too. I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many people and building so many close relationships…many of which are with my fellow Allstate Agents. Many of whom are just like me: born and raised here, proud to be in their community, proud to be backed by a company who has been a local brand staple for decades, and always eager to help. It’s for these reasons that I see an opportunity for the Allstate Agent community to do what it does best: protect those who need it any way we can. Among many hats, we are agents, relatives, friends, coaches, and small business owners in the community; people who can be relied upon and people who seek out ways to contribute to our communities. Although we are restricted physically, we can still pitch in. It’s who we are.

That’s how this project got started. For most of us, we have the simple job of essentially staying home.
