Why might I want to attend this workshop? What will I get out of it?

An information session about the fall AVP Transforming Power Project in the local schools.

As our society is falling behind in social-emotional skills, we've been grappling with unprecedented levels of social isolation, loneliness, grief, anger, violence, and depression. This workshops we are putting on in the schools this fall will help you directly address these very important issues.

The AVP Transforming Power Project is a series of experiential, lively, and immersive workshops that teaches interpersonal skills in conflict transformation, community building, helping participants learn to de-escalate conflicts and look for creative win-win solutions.

In these workshops, we build skills in listening and communication, emotional regulation, empathy, and self-awareness. In so doing, we learn to build trust, respect, stronger relationships, self-esteem, confidence, personal empowerment, leadership, and a sense of belonging and community. We do this by gathering in circles and breakout groups, having authentic conversations, playing together in fun activities, and engaging in small group problem solving.

Workshop participants walk away with valuable skills that they can use anywhere - in personal relationships, work, schools, and community.

Past participants have even told us that the experiences they have in our workshops have helped them to heal past traumas by replacing those experiences with new, positive ones in a safe environment.
