Dear Neighbors,

Your Chatfield VFD currently consists of an “all volunteer” department and no one is paid for the work they do for the department, no matter what that role is. We all donate our talent, time, and personal resources to help our community because we believe it is important and invaluable service to our community. For most of us, it is a calling to help others in ways that most cannot. We are the ones that respond to you 911 calls when there is a fire, car accident, or medical emergency often times leaving our families at the dinner table, our children’s ball games and yes, even our warm beds to respond to your needs. We do this willingly and are humbled by your gratitude for our services. We are a dedicated group of individuals, who as your first responders, continue to respond to an ever-increasing number of fires, accidents and medical emergencies in and around our area. We often aid other departments in the surrounding communities as well.

Having a fully operational VFD with up-to-date equipment to meet the needs of our every-growing community takes more than just our time. It takes money to fund these needs that help keep our community protected and as safe as possible. We are reaching out to those we gladly serve and help every day, to help us continue to do just that. While the county does provide us with some of our operating fund to maintain our building, it is only a small amount of our total operating budget. With your financial and continued support we can continue our calling of being there for you. We are in desperate need of a few things that our volunteers are paying for out of their own pockets.

Improvements planned and needed are to include:

• Funds for repairs and maintenance on multiple trucks, some are pulled from services until repaired.

• Funds for new water hose. We have had major leaks and are in need of replacement. We cannot fight fires if we are losing all of the water before it reaches the target.

• Fuel to run vehicles. Many times we have found to be only able to send one truck at a time as there are no funds to fill the fuel tanks.

• Station maintenance

We come to you in great need for your continued support of this vital organization. Depending on your individual situation, support for Chatfield VFD can take many forms.
