The 2nd Asian Invasion pop art show is being held on September 21-22, 2024 at The Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment (The MADE 501c(3)), located in Old Oakland.

Oakland has long been a cultural hub, including Asian American culture. Individuals such as Bruce Lee, Yone Noguchi, Yuri Kochiyama, and Fred Korematsu once called Oakland home. Despite underrepresentation in American media, Asians have made significant contributions to culture through their work as fine artists, entertainment industry artists, illustrators, designers, and more. By bringing Asian artists into the MADE, we hope to highlight the importance of cross-cultural understanding through creativity.

Last year, our first Oakland event featured 10 different Asian artists sharing their knowledge and selling their work. We had a terrific turnout for our inaugural showing and attendees were excited that a show specifically designed to feature Asian artists was happening in the middle of the Bay Area. Not only that, it was in a playable video game museum—they could engage with another art form strongly influenced by Asian culture!

This year, we want it to be even bigger. We want to eliminate The MADE’s admission fee so the public can join us for free, getting access to both a thrilling art show as well as an all-playable video game floor. We want to bring in local schools to inspire young students to be creative regardless of where they or their parents came from. We want selected students to have a space to sell their own art work alongside professionals and discover how their creativity can be a tool to grow in their career. And, if there’s room, we’d like to make space for attendees to take part in a bit of their own digital creativity.

We’re going to need your support! We’ll discount all tickets based off of how much we raise. And if we raise $4000 or more, everyone in the community will be able to get in free for those two days.
