Established in 1988 by youth in the foster care system, California Youth Connection (commonly referred to as CYC) is an impactful non-profit organization aiming to improve the lives of systems-impacted youth. Our work has resulted in the passage of dozens of laws that improve the child welfare and foster care system. Our mission is to develop and grow leaders who empower each other and their communities to transform the foster care and intersecting systems through community-led organizing, legislative, policy, and practice change. Our vision is that youth impacted by the child welfare and intersecting systems are empowered to have their needs met, and the support to grow into healthy and vibrant adults.
