Format of the night: During check in we will confirm your ticket, give you a number name tag and match card. While we are checking others in we welcome you to purchase a drink at the bar and mingle. As check in completes we will have all the ladies take their seats. Ladies will stay seated while the gentlemen rotate. Dates will be approximately 5 minutes long so pick your conversation topics wisely. Asking what someone does for a living 15 times in a row is going to get boring; mix in some fun questions to break the ice. There are YouTube videos out there with some suggestions. We will play a sound and guys will move to the next seat. We will pause about halfway for a bathroom and drink break. Matching: How does matching work? A match card will be used to connect any matches. At the start of each date write your daters name and badge #, take any quick notes after each date. At the end of the night, you will hand in the bottom half with the names and badge numbers of up to 6 daters you would be interested in getting to know better with the intent of going on another date. You will receive your matches via email. Only the first names, last initial and email addresses of mutual matches will be sent.Where you go from here is totally up to you! We discourage ghosting and ask that if someone reaches out and your mind has changed, you politely decline. Attire: Dress in something you feel confident in. The 5-6 minute dates will go fast so appearance will likely make an impression. Other FAQ Q: What is the duration? A: We anticipate about 1 hours and 30 minutes for each age group but this will depend on the number of registrants Q: How is the parking? A: The venue has offered us complimentary parking. Q: I fall into two age groups. What should I do? A: We suggest you register to the one you feel more likely to find matches in. You can also attend both. Email for promo code. Q: Will all the people be Catholic? A: While we cannot ensure that all daters will be practicing Catholics, this is the target audience and we have asked all to self identify as Catholics as part of the registration process. Q: 5-6 minutes doesn't seem like a lot of time; is it enough? A: Remember, you're not on a date, you're on a Speed date. Meant to be low pressure. Speed Dating is a great way to see if you'd be interested in a full date or just more conversation later. You can tell many things about a possible connection to a person in 5 minutes. Indicating you want to match with someone is not a marriage proposal it is an opportunity to explore if there is something further. Q: What should I talk about? A: You'll see that once you start the event everything just flows. One tip, think about what you'd want to know before going on a date with the person. Some people ask harmless easy questions like "What hobbies do you have" or "What area of town do you live in" and others ask tough questions like "When is the last time you lied to someone". The possibilities are endless but relax and try not to be too serious, just have fun. Another tip, try to avoid the more mundane questions like "what do you do" and "where are you from" as this can be repetitive. While obvious, it's surprising how many people make the mistake of talking about an ex, or focuses almost the entire speed-date on themself and what they do, etc. Try to stand out and differentiate yourself from the others in a positive way. Tasteful humor and a light hearted demeanor go a long way. And if you are sitting across from someone you're not attracted to, please remember that they still have a story to tell. Q. How long does it take before I get my matches? A: We aim to have your initial Match Notification Email within 24-48 hours. If you don't get an email within two days please contact us since EVERY Participant will be sent a Email Q: What if I don't get any matches? A: It does happen but over two-thirds of our participants get at least one mutual match who would like to hear from them again. Remember we are only notifying of mutual matches so someone may have selected you but you did not select them. This is why making your six selections is important. Q: Why only 6 Matches? A: We believe that this encourages attendees to be more thoughtful in their selections and pick people they feel they might have chemistry with. This avoids some getting overwhelmed with too many matches after the event. Q: Why only mutual matches? A: We do this out of respect for both sides. If you like someone and the feeling's not mutual you don't have that fear of creating a level of awkwardness. They will never know you chose them. It also protects the privacy of the daters as your info will only be shared with who you select. Q:What if there aren't any matches, will I still get an email? A: Yes, your email will simply state that there were no matches for you. If this happens, don't sweat it. Everyone has a preference, including you! Q: Who contacts who? A: We encourage both parties to contact each other. Remember, you already know the other person is interested in hearing from you again!
