CJ Wright to engage with the Indigenous stories of the land. Part I: This Land Speaks. The Indigenous peoples who walked here before us learned how to live in community from the wisdom of the land. Discover what guided their principles, laws, and values while listening in the indigenous ways. Learn about the cycles and circles of life with an introduction to Medicine Wheel Teachings. Part II: Native American Talking Circle. Following This Land Speaks, participants are invited to listen and share in an Indigenous Talking Circle Ceremony. As in ancient circles of elders, people sit in a circle, listen deeply, and speak from the heart. The Talking Circle begins with prayer provided by the practitioner conducting the ceremony. Participants may smudge or purify with the smoke from sacred herbs. A feather or talking stick is passed around the circle, in a sunwise direction, to each person, serving as an invitation to speak. The Talking Circle provides a place for healing and resolving trauma and an opportunity for each person to speak heart-truth without interruption, criticism, or judgment. About the practitioner: Rev. Cynthia Jo (C. J.) Wright (awahili gawoni-Cherokee), CTR, CTSS, CCISM, is the Director of the Rainbow Spiritual Education Center (RSEC). An ordained minister, C.J.’s heritage is Cheroke, English, and Irish. She embraces the Cherokee traditions and Christian teachings. She has been in ceremony with, worked with, and been mentored by tribal leaders and educators from the Cherokee, Creek, Shawnee, Lakota and Dakota Sioux, Nez Perce, Hopi, Zuni, and Ojibwe tribes over the past 23 years. C. J. has provided support, counseling and facilitated ceremonies to many indigenous people of Kentucky and surrounding areas. The Rainbow Spiritual Education Center is a member organization of Kentucky Indigenous Peoples. RSEC services include educational programs, Native Women’s Wisdom Circle, Medicine Wheel and 12 Steps groups, special events, education at Kentucky Indigenous gatherings, and Native American and non-Native ceremonies. Ticketing: Free, with donations to Origin Park encouraged and reservations required. The event will take place rain or shine, outdoors if weather permits, except for in cases of extreme inclement weather. Limit 20 participants. <br> Origin Park Mural House 1235 W Kenwood Ave, Clarksville, IN 47129, USA
