October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we need your help.

Nationally, around one in four women (27%) have experienced domestic abuse since the age of 16. For men, the figure is around one in seven (13.9%). Almost half of all women and men in the US have experienced psychological aggression by an intimate partner in their lifetime (48.4% and 48.8%, respectively).*

In the counties we serve (Madison, Morgan, Limestone, and Jackson), our domestic violence services have made a significant impact on the lives of those escaping traumatic and potentially lethal situations:

Domestic Violence Responder Program provided follow-up calls to 2,150 victims of domestic violence.
HOPE Place Shelter Program provided safe, secure, emergency shelter for 128 adults and 102 children.
Victim Outreach Coordinators provided court advocacy to 345 victims of domestic violence and held 639 court advocacy sessions.
Of the 72 forensic exams completed by our Forensic Nurse Examiners, 62 were for strangulation cases.

All of our services are at no cost to the victim.
