Story

There is an orphan crisis in Uganda. Currently the country is home to nearly 3.4 million children who have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS, extreme poverty, sickness and civil conflict. In fact, Uganda has the largest orphan population per capita of any country in the world. With 50% of Uganda’s population being under the age of 14 (inclusive), the needs far outweigh the solutions.

Diep Ark Ministries International (DAMI) is a grassroots non-profit organization located in a rural community near Jinja, Uganda, and is fully committed to succoring the vulnerable children and widows. DAMI has a Child Care Support Program currently supporting 51 vulnerable children, and recently opened a small orphanage/children's home to care for a few of them under one roof, until enough funding makes it possible to bring in more. However, without support from all of us, this program is only wishful thinking and the orphanage will not last.

As the saying goes, “teach a man how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. That is our ultimate goal. However, there will be no one to be taught if the children’s most-basic needs are not being met.

So, with all our heart, we invite you to join us in being part of the solution by helping us feed vulnerable children and giving them back their right to education, which unfortunately is far from being free.

Through a one-time donation, or better yet, ongoing support, big or small, your lasting act of love has the power to change a child’s destiny and their future families.

With deep gratitude,

Diep Ark Ministries International and the vulnerable children in Uganda
