The Breast Cancer Network of WNY, Inc. (BCN) is a local, independent, nonprofit organization serving the breast cancer community of Western New York. Established in 1988 as an informal way for area breast cancer survivors to share experiences and help others living in the aftermath of a breast cancer diagnosis, BCN grew over the years to become one of Western New York’s leading sources of information, support, and advocacy for breast cancer patients, survivors, and their friends and families. BCN delivers support, education, and information to local individuals who have been impacted by breast cancer. Its programming and impact begins with outreach to women who are newly diagnosed and continues through their treatment and survivorship. The organization was incorporated in 1994, and received its IRS 501(c)(3) status in 1995. Since that time, it has provided the community with a wide variety of support programs to benefit the wellbeing of those impacted by breast cancer. In September, 2023, BCN relocated from its suburban location to urban Buffalo, NY with the intent of being better situated to serve the entirety of the Western New York community and its underserved populations. Being closer to the Buffalo medical campus and marginalized populations became a large factor in BCN’s strategic direction and the organization has since implemented initiatives specific to those populations.
