Campaign cover for Building Babies' Brains

Building Babies' Brains

READ was created in 2018 to address reading inequities faced by Arlington’s youngest and most economically vulnerable children by ensuring that they have new, quality, culturally relevant books in their home. READ works closely with families to create literacy-rich environments and a daily routine of reading aloud with their children, starting prenatally, leading to improved success in school and strengthening their future workforce skills.

Our concept remains simple: to get new, quality, culturally relevant books into the homes of the youngest and most vulnerable in our community starting from birth so that their grown-ups can and want to read with their babies every day, during the most impactful time in their baby’s brain development (read the research here), setting the foundation for these children's success in school and later in life.

Support READ in reaching ALL families.
