Marin Caiola's Story

Hi everyone! It’s that time of year for City Islands Annual Ergathon!! Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page. This is my third year with this team and club, and I can easily say rowing has impacted my life in so many positive ways! I started my rowing journey two years ago on the novice team and since then have won New York States, attended Youth Nationals twice and am now a varsity athlete. This sport has taught me to be a more dedicated and disciplined individual and most importantly has taught me the importance of a team. Each girl works harder for the next. I truly love the sport and have met my best friends through this team. Rowing has changed my life and I genuinely don’t know what I would do without this sport in my life. I hope you'll consider donating to help me and my teammates accomplish our goals. On Sunday March 3rd my City Island Rowing teammates and I will be rowing on the indoor rowing machine (called an “erg") for a grueling 90 (Varsity) 60 (JV/N) minute straight workout as our sweat equity in support of our annual Ergathon - Capital Equipment Fundraiser. We train exceptionally hard year round so that we can become nationally competitive athletes. Rowing equipment is incredibly expensive, often made of hand laid, high modulus carbon fiber… and shells cost upward of $60,000 and oars $500 each. 100% of funds we raise go to our capital equipment needs, and as C.I.R. is a 501(c)(3) not for profit, all donations are fully tax deductible.
