Enjoy a new class series that celebrates the diverse make-up of New York based artists with 100% of proceeds supporting equitable access to Dancewave's youth educational programs.

All classes will be held at the Dancewave Center (182 Fourth Avenue, Brooklyn, NY) and are open to all-level movers ages 18+.

A Movement Class for the End of the World

Sunday January 5, 2025 | 2:00pm-3:00pm

Teaching Artists: Phoebe DeVincenzi + Eloise True

We all hold a lot in our bodies, often without even knowing it. For most of us, our daily lives ask us to ignore our physical experience. This class is intended for anyone who has been feeling tense, numb, or like they just need an hour to reconnect with themselves.

Our somatic release class is designed to guide participants through a series of exercises, prompts and explorations to tap into their own intuition and impulse. Through improvisation, play, and grounding we hope to curate a guided movement experience that allows class takers to access the healing power of embodiment.

Musical Theater Jazz

In this high-energy class, we’ll move and groove to our favorite upbeat showtunes! We’ll kick things off with an invigorating warm-up to get the body moving and ready, then dive into a short and fun musical theatre jazz combo focused on expressing individuality and telling a story through movement. The goal is simple: have fun, feel good, and let your personality shine through every step! All are welcome; this class is designed for all levels and abilities.

Restore, Empower & Refresh through Gentle Movement

Toddler & Me Dance Class

Teaching Artist: Niki Carlotti

Get moving with your little one in a fun and encouraging environment. For toddlers 2-3 years old along with a caregiver, this class will offer guided dance moves you can do together, to both kids music and contemporary tracks. (Caregiver participation required.

Pilates

Thursday January 9, 2025 | 7:30pm-8:30pm

Teaching Artist: Mahalia Xiaoqi

This mat-based Pilates class focuses on core strength, flexibility, balance, and increasing overall body/breath awareness. We will work through diverse, low-impact circuit exercises that strengthen and lengthen the body with a focus on core, arms and legs. Promote healthier movement patterns while improving imbalances in the body created through daily living. Suitable for all levels. Heat Level 2.
