Organized by Measure of Hearts Foundation
Story
Since Measure of Hearts' opening of its first supportive housing site in 2019, starting with a 20 bed capacity. We've provided "home living" clean, & safe housing to families, LGBTQ, youth aging out of foster care and folks returning home from incarceration. We are now operating 7 housing sites located throughout South Los Angeles area with a capacity of 75 beds.
Clients are provided with cleaning supplies, feminine products, transportation service, food assistances, clothing donations, towels and bed linens for all new incoming clients and more. Basic everyday essentials that can easily be taken for granted.
Each client that comes to Measure of Hearts has their own barriers and circumstances. It is our goal to meet each person where they are and support them with their individual needs and goals. We provide resources to employment, assist with acquiring eligible county and state benefits, and obtain vital records (i.e., DMV service, SSI card replacement). Without stable housing some items are nearly impossible to attain without an address.
We've seen first hand how housing stablization can uplift a person's spirits. Now that they're safe, they know their personal belongings will be there when they get back, they're well rested and able to focus on what's next.
Our supportive housing services is the rent that we pay for the space we occupy on this earth while we are here. However, we are not able to do this work without your support!
