My wife and I have been living in Charleston County for 22 years. Over that time period, we have seen a negative impact to the quality of life due to traffic and congestion with the growth that we have all experienced in the area. I also enjoy cycling and have seen the roads become much more dangerous over the past 10 or so years. Last year I was hit by a car going through an intersection.
I am convinced that we can be smarter about the way we include pedestrians and bicycles as we see more growth going forward. We have seen this done in communities and cities all over the world so we know there are solutions. But solutions are going to take vision and leadership with those communities impacted. Charleston Moves is there to think through possible solutions to protect and keep what we have, which is a phenomenal place to live. I want to make sure that every angle for growth is considered in a practical, constructive way for all of us.
