This extended incarceration inevitably denies access to crucial reintegration resources that can only be accessed once a person has actually exited prison. For example, vouchers for work boots, bus passes, and food even though they've completed their sentences, simply because they lack the funds to find a place to live. This delay not only keeps them incarcerated longer but also prevents them from accessing the critical resources they need to reintegrate into society.
