Global DARE Foundation's mission is to promote world-wide awareness and better quality of life for all who are diagnosed with Adult Refsum Disease. DARE stands for Defeat Adult Refsum Everywhere. We DARE to believe there is a cure for Adult Refsum Disease.

When someone is diagnosed with Refsum disease one of the first things they learn is that there is no medical treatment. The only way to manage symptoms is through a strict low phytanic acid diet.

Unfortunately, food labels don’t show the level of phytanic acid in food and very limited food testing has been done. Could you imagine a diabetic not knowing the amount of sugar or carbohydrates in their everyday food? This is what people with Refsum face

This year DARE funded a $30,000 project to test 60 more foods. It so important that we continue this food testing on a yearly basis to increase the number of foods tested. This has a direct impact on the daily quality of life of people with Refsum Disease.
