Watch a personal message from Destiny here!
I'm Destiny Anderson, a Brooklyn native and the Treasurer of the Board of Directors at Drama Club. Growing up, I wanted to be a TV/Film actress. I took acting classes through Ifetayo cultural arts program and continued training at the Brooklyn School for Music and Theatre in the Prospect Heights Campus where I learned acting, audio production, stage combat, and set design. I've performed in various productions with the Black Theatre Productions at the University at Albany, and then my acting passions took a back seat to my career as an accountant. It was fate that at a Board Fair at a previous employer, I was introduced to Drama Club; the mission aligned with my appreciation for theater and commitment to service. Mission: to consistently care for youth who are incarcerated and court-involved by creating space for them to thrive, using improv as their guide.
I'm a firm believer that the art of theater and improv can be applied anywhere, which is why I'm helping Drama Club fundraise for our 100K goal. This will aid in increasing programming inside the facilities (Rikers, Crossroads, and Horizons) and community programs (The Door). My dream for Drama Club is to have a theatre that can be home-base for the communities served and an additional place of familiarity for youth that are released into this ever changing world. Increasing programming and our reach is just the beginning, so friends, family, colleagues, and everyone in between, I am hoping that you can donate ANY AMOUNT to bring this dream to fruition. EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS, and I will match every dollar donated up to $2,000.
Thank you in advance for your donation/share of this campaign.
