DC Eleven Football Club (DCXI) was founded in the Fall of 2018 to uplift and showcase players that demonstrate a special curiosity for the game. Programming started in 2019 with 20 players ranging from 10 years to 12 years. By 2020, the club expanded to include programming for youths ages 5 to 17 including an Elite boys program, coed outdoor and indoor recreational leagues and coed summer programs, this grew club year-round participation to 200 players. In 2021, the program further expanded to include an Elite girls program, bringing the total number of club participation to 250 - 300 players. To date, DC Eleven FC boasts year-round participation of over 500 student-athletes, and is growing. The club’s commitment to uplift and showcase players that demonstrate a special curiosity for the game, regardless of their background or capacity to pay full club membership has been documented by NPR and another national media outlet.
