Growing up, I never truly understood the gravity of cancer. As an adult, I’ve witnessed firsthand how devastating it can be for a family. I cannot imagine the adversity a family must face when a young child is given such a heartbreaking diagnosis. Each year, approximately 15,000 children in the United States are diagnosed with cancer. That’s 15,000 families whose lives are forever altered by a diagnosis filled with fear and uncertainty. Despite the advances in treatment, one in five children diagnosed with cancer will not survive. These staggering statistics weigh heavy on my heart, and they inspire me to do everything I can to help make a difference. The Childhood Cancer Society has been a beacon of hope for these families, providing not just financial support, but also emotional care, research funding, and advocacy to ensure that no child faces cancer alone. They offer "wish grants" to children, creating priceless memories for families facing the unimaginable. Through their efforts, more families are helped in coping with the financial and emotional burdens of pediatric cancer. I am especially passionate about this cause because the Childhood Cancer Society gave me an opportunity to intern with them, allowing me to directly see the incredible impact they have on these children and their families. Being part of their work has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life, and it has further fueled my desire to help fund raise and support their mission. I’ve chosen to fund raise for this cause because I believe every child deserves the chance to grow up, to play, to learn, and to experience life without the shadow of cancer. Currently, over 40,000 children in the U.S. are battling cancer, and I want to help ensure that each and every one of them has the resources, research, and support they need to overcome this challenge. By fundraising for the Childhood Cancer Society, I’m not just raising money—I’m raising hope. I’m fighting alongside families who need support, and I’m helping fund the research that will lead to better treatments, easier journeys, and, ultimately, a cure.
