We envision a community that is engaged, equipped and empowered to eliminate addiction. At Drug Free Charlotte County (Charlotte Alliance for a Safe and Drug Free Community, Inc). And, we are committed to seeing this happen in Charlotte County!

In 2002, we were called Scarlett Charlotte because 53% of high school teens reported using alcohol that month. This was one of the highest in the state. A concerned and dedicated group of citizens and organizations formed the coalition. By 2012, that rate had dropped to just under 36% and our latest data from the state report under 18% for 2022. And, other substance use has decreased as well!

Through our Mission to prevent addiction through community awareness, education and strong partnerships, we work to engage all ages in our community; equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent addiction; and empower them to be incredible agents of change so that our community will one day be free of addiction.

Critical to achieving this is the need to reach all ages - from birth to aged. Working to strengthen family bonds and resilience for children and youth - partnering with other organizations and individuals for greater reach and depth - are key to our future success. We bring evidence based, and proven strategies and programs into our partnerships- and, we know that prevention happens in Charlotte County. Lives are changed and our community's future is stronger.
