Support the Safety of Chicagoland Photojournalists
This fall, Crisis Ready Media, in partnership with the International Media Support Group, will host a two-day Hostile Environment and First Aid Training (HEFAT) course in Chicago, Il.

Journalists face increasing risks at home and abroad—covering protests, natural disasters, violent incidents, and breaking news. Too often, freelancers and independent journalists step into these situations without the safety training or equipment afforded to employees of larger outlets. Our HEFAT course bridges that gap.
The training will provide hands-on instruction in:
Situational awareness and personal security
Trauma first aid, including tourniquet use and wound management
Navigating protests and civil unrest
Mental wellness and resiliency for journalists
The cost of delivering this course exceeds $20,000, but it will offered at no cost to 25 Chicagoland–based journalists. To make this possible, we need your help.
Your donation directly supports:
Training materials and equipment for each participant
Individual first aid kits (IFAKs) for journalists to carry into the field
Venue, logistics, and instructor costs
With your support, we can ensure Chicagoland photojournalists—those who risk their lives to bring truth to light—have the tools and confidence to stay safe while continuing their essential work.
Please give today and stand with the free press.
