Climate change is a topic of high interest for the readers of the Daily Hampshire Gazette. Our team of journalists has long wanted to focus on how climate change affects the Pioneer Valley and what action people can take. We want to tell the stories of those who are witnessing its impact firsthand such as area farmers, plus innovative people who are using new methods and ideas to mitigate their footprint on the environment. With five major colleges in our area, we envision seeking input from scientists and environmental experts who specialize in the field. We want to share these local stories in print and online, including video and podcasts.
In order to take on this ambitious project, we are asking for financial support from our readers. Many of you already subscribe, and for that, we are grateful. In 2020, readers generously donated funds through the Local News Fund to fortify our coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now we are asking subscribers and non-subscribers to consider making tax-deductible donations to increase our coverage of climate change until the end of 2022.
Please donate to Climate Change at Home — 2021 Local News Fund, via Local Media Foundation. Contributions to this fund will help pay for news resources to cover the impact of climate change on our communities and how it is inspiring people to take action. We want to do our part.
