This December, we’re celebrating 7 years of Youth in Diaspora; a movement born from one dream: to empower children in underserved communities by equipping local youth to lead the change.

With over 20 million out-of-school children, rising insecurity and youth unemployment threatening national unity and prosperity, the urgency for youth leadership, women’s inclusion and diaspora participation in governance has never been greater.

Lagos, the cultural and economic capital of Nigeria, represents the pulse of our nation’s youth, innovation and political awareness. With a growing population of creative professionals, entrepreneurs and civic-minded change-makers, the city is the perfect place to host a dynamic day of conversations and policy-forward action. On December 20th, as Nigeria prepares for the holidays and a new year, we will gather the nation's most committed youth, leaders and change-makers for a defining moment.

In the floating slums of Makoko, we’ve employed young teachers, renovated classrooms and restored hope to hundreds of children. None of it would be possible without YOU, the diaspora. But we’re just getting started and our anniversary is not just a celebration, it’s a call to action!
