ROAR Annual Appeal 2025 – 2026

25 years and counting!

Founded in 2000, Ridgefield Operation for Animal Rescue (affectionately known as ROAR) quickly engaged the Ridgefield community and is still going full steam ahead at 25!

In its earliest phase, ROAR volunteers supported the efforts of the animal control officer with dogs housed at the Ridgefield Pound. They walked dogs and provided socialization until either being reunited with their owners or adopted by new families. From 2000 to 2005, ROAR established the Bark Park and the Therapy Dog Program, and importantly, raised funds and oversaw construction of its home – The Donofrio Family Animal Shelter on South Street.

With its strong foundation, history, reputation, ROAR has saved over 6000 homeless cats and dogs and placed them in loving homes. While at ROAR, these animals are cared for by a small army of staff and hundreds of volunteers. Standard care ensures that every animal receives veterinary evaluations, age-appropriate vaccinations, spay/neutering, and preventative treatments. Animals with underlying illnesses receive additional treatments; such as, surgery to repair broken bones, treatment for heartworm, parvovirus, ringworm and other parasites.  ROAR also provides behavioral training.

As ROAR looks towards the next 25 years and beyond, we reach out to you – asking for your generous contribution to the Annual Appeal so ROAR can continue to save more cats and dogs during the coming year.

Please donate here online or make your check payable to ROAR, and send to us at 45 South Street, Ridgefield CT 06877
