Don't Make It Weird exists to break the stigma surrounding mental illness by providing educational classes and events, hosting national evidence-based classes and meetings, offering peer support, giving referrals and resources to those in need, and walking beside individuals and families in our community who are in crisis. Everything we offer is FREE to the community. We offer classes and meetings like: Peer Support Groups, Emotions Anonymous, NAMI Family to Family Classes, GUIDE QPR - Suicide Prevention, GUIDE Youth Mental Health First Aid, Caya Mom's Lunch Group, Monthly Speakers on a Variety of Topics, and of course, one on one support for families in Crisis. In just the first THREE MONTHS of being open, we have already had 251 people attend classes, meetings, listen to speakers, or reach out for direct or peer support. As we grow and become a known resource in the Buford area, we anticipate this number to grow exponentially and look to bring in additional meetings and resources.
DMIW relies 100% on community support to "keep the doors open & lights on" so we can serve our neighbors when they need us. All donations stay locally to directly support our community.
Visit www.DMIW.org for more information and a calendar of events.
*The yearly donation page is actually the different levels of "Founding Community Partners" that adds permanent recognition within the center. "Founding Community Partners" is a distinction given to those who have donated at this level within the first year of being open.
