The clinical and social needs of transgender and gender expansive communities have been at the forefront of news in recent years. Dr. Munson, an occupational therapy practitioner, possesses both the scope and tools to support these clients in all aspects of accessing care and occupational opportunities. This talk will address several current topics in trans-related care, provide foundational knowledge about this unique socio-cultural group's occupational lives, and present findings from Dr. Munson's decade-long work to amplify occupational therapy's voice in this critical area of practice. The content will include Dr. Munson's experiences as a trans-masculine provider who developed a 2015 doctoral project based on personal lived experience, aimed at creating culturally relevant content to enhance the field's knowledge base. Dr. Munson hopes attendees will join for both informative content and lively discussion, fostering a collective understanding of how the field can take a stand against the occupational injustices that impact this community.
