LAUREN DESANTIS-THEN's Story

Lauren DeSantis-Then has worked as an attorney at Polsinelli for over 18 years, spending the first 12 years in Washington, DC, before returning to her hometown of St. Louis. Her practice is centered on problem-solving, and she thrives on helping clients navigate their day-to-day legal challenges.

As outside general counsel for a variety of companies, she supports boards and management with issues ranging from general corporate matters to employment concerns. Additionally, she assists companies with government investigations, crisis management, and white-collar litigation. Lauren has significant experience representing both corporate and individual clients in enforcement proceedings involving multiple government entities, and she has navigated congressional matters as well. Furthermore, she collaborates with boards of directors and audit committees to conduct internal investigations and establish corporate compliance and ethics programs. For Lauren, it is rewarding to be part of the solution and witness her clients thrive.

Outside of her professional life, she is a devoted mother to three children, finding that role to be the most fulfilling part of her life. When not in the office, Lauren can be found cheering on her kids at their soccer games or enjoying the great outdoors through activities like hiking and biking. She loves to cook and experiment in the kitchen, cherishing the time spent with friends and family.  In a past life, she even hosted a cooking show in Washington, DC, called Capital Cooking. It was a fantastic experience that combined her passion for food and creativity.

Dancing with the Stars holds significant importance for Lauren, as it represents an opportunity to raise awareness for mental health issues that have profoundly impacted her life. Watching her sister struggle with mental illness has been a pivotal experience for Lauren, inspiring her to help organizations like the Independence Center, which support individuals facing similar challenges.

Lauren recognizes the vital role that family support played in her sister's journey, helping her navigate the complexities of mental illness and learn to integrate it into everyday life. Her sister, a talented dancer, even toured with Nelly and appeared in the Air Force One music video, showcasing her incredible talent and resilience.

By participating in Dancing with the Stars, Lauren aims to dedicate her performances to Linsey, honoring her sister’s strength and celebrating their shared love of dance. This endeavor is not only a tribute but also a way to shine a light on the importance of mental health support and acceptance.
