The David Amarri Foundation was created to carry forward the vision, love, and creativity of David Amarri Richard King, whose life was cut short by gun violence at age 24 on October 5, 2025.

David believed in the power of young artists, the soul of Chicago, and the ability of art to build community and inspire change.

The Foundation exists to honor his legacy, transforming grief into growth, pain into purpose, ensuring his light continues to inspire and uplift the next generation of creatives.

We believe what David believed:

That young people need space, mentorship, and resources to create and thrive
That Chicago’s creatives deserve to be elevated and celebrated
That through the power of expression, artists have the potential to shape the world

David saw what the world often missed: the brilliance and power of his city and his peers. He wanted to build something lasting - a creative ecosystem rooted in equality, opportunity and love for his culture.

He didn’t get to finish that work, but we can.

Through funding, mentorship, and creative community building, your donation helps us uplift the next generation of artists and visionaries. Those who - like David - believe in the power of expression and the importance of being seen and supported.

Join us in turning pain into purpose.

Let’s celebrate the life David lived.
Let’s carry on the vision he started.
Let’s invest in the next generation of artists who - like David - have something powerful to say.

Every contribution helps us keep David’s vision alive by introducing his light to new people and opening doors for the young creatives he believed in so deeply.
