Dilly's Fund

In January of 2022, Dilly was rescued by Humane Agents from Animal Charity of Ohio after a dreadful life of living in an old van. Unfortunately, some of his van-mates had already succumbed to their illnesses and injuries. Dilly was in very poor condition both physically and mentally after the pain he had endured. He had to undergo months of rehabilitation with the help of his Caretakers and Veterinary Technician. Soon, he began showing his true personality as a kind, gentle dog that craved nothing but love. In 2023, Dilly met the woman that soon become his mother and best friend. Dilly's Mom was instantly a perfect match for him. He now lives a life better than he ever could have imagined, especially considering where he started out in life. We will be posting more about Dilly and his favorite game of "find the shoe" but for now, let's fast forward to last week. 

On May 24th, 2024 Facebook went wild over the many sightings of a thirsty looking dog making his way through neighborhoods all over the west side of Boardman. It was a beautiful summer day, and Dilly had managed to wiggle under his fence and take himself for a long walk all over town. To say his family was distraught would be an understatement. They were terrified. Dilly is their world and now he was loose in the world, where anything could happen to him! This had never happened before, and in their panic, they weren't sure where to even begin. Luckily, photos and posts about Dilly began lighting up local social media pages almost immediately. He was on the move, quickly. Our team at Animal Charity of Ohio was quickly notified and our Operations Director started rallying the forces. Staff members, Board members, and Volunteers began tracking the sightings of him and were able to locate him and reunite him with his loving family incredibly quickly. Dilly and his family spent the rest of the night cuddling at home and resting easy knowing that he was safe from harm.

I cannot stress enough how rare a story like this is. We've all seen the lost and found pets posts on social media and there is very rarely THIS MANY people who care enough to post as much as Dilly was posted about. We thank you all for the dedication that you showed for this sweet dog and his family in their time of need!

As a display of her faith and gratitude for our community and our mission Dilly's Mom has generously offered to match donations made in Dilly's name by 50%.
