💡 The Story Behind DiviDiaper™

DiviDiaper™ was born from a deeply personal journey—a medical challenge faced by one family that led to an innovation now poised to help countless others.

Harlow, the son of our founders Tivon Jeffers and Lisroxanne Walter-Jeffers, was diagnosed at birth with Hypospadias and Congenital Adrenal Hypoplasia—two complex conditions that required multiple surgeries during the earliest years of his life.

One of the most delicate procedures involved rerouting his urethra, along with the surgical insertion of a catheter. He also underwent reconstructive surgery on his scrotum, which required external stitches and extremely careful post-operative care.

But amid all the serious medical concerns—recovery, infection risk, and long-term outcomes—one issue proved to be unexpectedly difficult: diapering.

The Problem with Traditional Diapering

Following surgery, the hospital used a common method called double diapering: one diaper was cut to accommodate the catheter, and a second was layered over it to catch the urine. This created multiple issues:

Bulky, uncomfortable fit
The absorbent core spilling out through the cut
Diapers unfastening each other
And most critically—increased risk of infection

The turning point came during a routine diaper change at home. After a bowel movement, Harlow’s parents noticed that stool was migrating forward, coming into contact with the catheter site and scrotal stitches. It was not only distressing—it was medically dangerous.

That moment sparked the idea that would become DiviDiaper™.

What if a diaper had a built-in divider at the perineum to separate the front and back?
A simple, yet powerful concept: keep urine and stool apart to protect healing wounds, catheters, and vulnerable skin.

From Parental Insight to Medical Innovation

Tivon and Lisroxanne designed a prototype diaper with a W-shaped, elasticized divider and Catheter Flap and presented it to Harlow’s surgeon, world-renowned pediatric urologist Dr. Dix Poppas. After reviewing the concept, Dr. Poppas instructed his team to use DiviDiaper™ on Harlow instead of standard diapers, noting:

“Just a better diaper to keep stool from extending to urinary and reproductive tracts. Makes good sense.”

Shortly afterward, respected global diaper consultant Carlos Richer encouraged DiviDiaper™ to expand its product line for adults and seniors, especially those using catheters, living with incontinence, or at risk of bedsores and infections.

DiviDiaper™ officially debuted at Hygienix 2017 and was met with enthusiastic support from medical professionals and industry leaders. Since then, we’ve:

🏥 Where We Are Now

Today, DiviDiaper™ has evolved into two groundbreaking brands:

Harlows™ – A next-generation diaper for babies and children, featuring our signature W-shaped divider to prevent mixing of stool and urine, reducing rashes and infections.
Cathease™ – A hospital-grade diaper designed for NICU infants, children, and adults. It includes a sealed catheter hole and soft nonwoven flap to catch urine from indwelling catheters or suprapubic tubes.

We are currently in pre-production, gearing up for a pilot run in the NICUs of a major New York City hospital, where our diapers will be tested as a complete replacement for standard diapering products. This pilot is a significant step toward proving the impact of our innovation in real-world clinical care.
